FRENCH LINE INFANTRY, LEIPZIG, 1813
(RETAIL US$14.99)
This represents the French
infantryman as he actually appeared during the
closing years of the Empire. The splendid uniforms
of the previous years had for the most part
disappeared forever in the snows of Russia, and the
bulk of the French army was clothed in a rather
makeshift manner. The uniform was usually dominated
by a flimsy, shapeless gray overcoat; any soldier
so fortunate as to possess a regulation uniform
coat usually carried it in his knapsack for special
occasions.
These are unpainted
and unassembled metal hobby kits.
Unless otherwise noted, these kits are in the
International 54mm
Collectors Scale. Standing figurines are approx.
2-1/2" - 3" tall.
