MARINE OF THE IMPERIAL
GUARD, 1812
(Retail US$14.99)
A battalion of Marines de La
Garde was formed on September 17th, 1803, by order
of the First Council, Napoleon Bonaparte. The unit
consisted of 737 officers and men, including five
trumpeters. This unit, as part of the "Guard", came
under the direct eye of Napoleon as he had a hand
in its outfitting and training.
The Marines fought in every
major campaign and theater of the Napoleonic wars.
A detachment was always with the Imperial Guard to
man the boats during river crossings for the
Emperor and his staff. They performed outstanding
service in the camp at Boulogne in 1804, the siege
of Danzig in 1807, on the island of Lobou in 1809,
in Spain and Russia, and during the 1813-14
campaign in Germany.
These are unpainted
and unassembled metal hobby kits.
Unless otherwise noted, these kits are in the
International 54mm
Collectors Scale. Standing figurines are approx.
2-1/2" - 3" tall.
