HOBBY KIT
9931
US NAVY B.A.R. MAN,
1920'S CHINA
(Retail US$14.99)
The turmoil that began with
the Boxer Rebellion at the turn of the century
continued in the decades that followed. A power
struggle between various factions of the central
government, Monarchists, Communists, and
independent War Lords raged across China during the
1920's and 1930's. The U.S., although it did not
have any land concessions in China, as did the
European Powers, maintained a small Marine and
Gunboat Detachment to safeguard its Diplomatic
Corps, commercial travelers and numerous
missionaries. There were many instances where the
sailors of the Gunboat Fleet were the only
protection for many Chinese villages against the
river pirates and marauding bands of the various
factions, and the U.S. presence was very welcome by
the Chinese population.
These are unpainted
and unassembled metal hobby kits.
Unless otherwise noted, these kits are in the
International 54mm
Collectors Scale. Standing figurines are approx.
2-1/2" - 3" tall.
