US NAVY SHORE PATROL, WW2

Often overlooked as
participants in the American war effort were the
members of the Navy Shore Patrol. The Shore Patrol
stood guard over all American Naval installations,
from the great ports in the United States and
Europe, to the smallest island in the
Pacific.
Their greatest responsibility
was preventing any form of sabotage to dock
facilities and war materials. However they
performed many other duties. On many Pacific
Islands the S.P. formed the Front Line Garrison.
The S.P. was also responsible, on a limited scale,
for counter espionage activities. In all the
sizable seaborne invasions, from the numerous
Pacific landings, the landings in North Africa,
Italy and Normandy, the U.S. Navy Shore Patrol was
among the first ashore.
These are unpainted
and unassembled metal hobby kits.
Unless otherwise noted, these kits are in the
International 54mm
Collectors Scale. Standing figurines are approx.
2-1/2" - 3" tall.
