Valiant Miniature Kit# 9818 - British Naval Brigade, Gunner, Crimean War. It had long been common practice in amphibious operations for the Royal Navy to provide a portion of the men and guns necessary to support the landing force. At Sebastopol the unfortunate naval gunners found themselves committed to a protracted siege on land, burrowing like moles in the Crimean mud and suffering from such unseamanlike discomforts and diseases as trenchfoot, cholera, and lice.
